I found the most tremendous amount of ease, after stumbling onto this quote recently, from A Course In Miracles:
“Those who are certain of the outcome can afford to wait, and wait without anxiety”.
Does that not bring you terrific ease?! It’s like a weights been lifted off my shoulders!
Now don’t get me wrong, I do absolutely trust that The Universe will deliver to me everything that I’ve wished for, and I will (eventually) achieve all of the lofty goals I set for myself.
But I often find it difficult to trust in the process. I find myself getting frustrated when things haven’t gone my way, or disheartened when a particular job hasn’t paid off as I thought it would, or anxious when a gig I thought I was a shoo-in for, has gone to someone else.
Constantly getting dragged down by the often cumbersome, overwhelming and discouraging details of the day to day, of running a creative business.
But there was something about this quote that painted a much broader view, seemingly moving that invisible finish line so much further into the distance, that all of a sudden it didn’t matter anymore when I crossed it.
All of a sudden, getting to that goal, didn’t seem to be the relentless race that it usually is.
Gone was the anxiety of ‘I better get there, and I better get there faster, quicker and better than I’ve ever done before’.
Those who are certain of the outcome can afford to wait.
And when I reflect upon how things have worked out for me in the past, I’m confident that I can be certain of the outcome. Because the outcome always work out, at the very least, how I wanted it to, but lately it’s been working out waaaay better than my finite mind could imagine.
Aaaah the beauty of hindsight. The troubled times or the ‘things that haven’t gone my way’, have all eventually worked themselves out to not only be OK, but also, quite often, to be much more glorious.
And so, now, I wait, and I wait without anxiety. *exhales* And I would love to know if this brings you any ease or insights, so please leave me a comment below!
