Going to Fashion week has been a dream of mine since I was kid. I used to watch Fashion TV around the clock whilst I was running my fashion label, and merrily fantasize about one day being on FTV and sitting in the Frow.
In true fairytale fashion, the very first Fashion Week I went to was in 2010 following my gig on Project Runway Australia, where I attended as the resident reporter for Fashion TV Australia!! For a budding fashionista it was pretty much my dream job!
(You can catch some of the first interviews I ever did over on my Youtube Channel, I’m all starry eyed and stuck for words: www.Youtube.com/AmberRenaeTV)
Since then I’ve attended every Australian Fashion Week and interviewed pretty much anyone that I ever had a #fangirl crush on.
Side note: Designers are my Celebs – like if I ever met Brad Pitt I’d be CAF, but if he was standing next to Tom Ford I actually wouldn’t cope.
So it’s with mixed emotions that I decided to take this year off, and its taking every bit of restraint and will power I have, to NOT look at my Instagram feed for fear of encouraging serious missing out disease.
Bad news for me, but there is heaps of good news for you!
Firstly, I’ve decided to giveaway all the goodie bag goodness I’ve amassed over the past few months, and its all going to one lucky winner!!! To enter just click here and pop in your deets.
Secondly, the reason I’m sitting it out this year is because I have some super awesome new training coming for you next week, in the form of a live hangout.
Through the chats I’ve had with the hundreds of students in my How to be a Stylist Intro class I’ve found that one of the biggest things they struggle with is sourcing products.
Obviously you know you need to source gear from PR agents and designers, but how do you actually go about that?
Q. What’s the best way to approach them?
Q. What do you need to include in your initial contact to ensure a ‘yes’ response?
Q. What are the best days of the week to contact PRs vs Designers vs Boutiques?
And once you’ve started those relationships, what marketing and PR strategies of your own, do you need to enlist, in order to get them begging YOU to borrow their products!?
There’s soooo many nuances to this, and as you know the Fashion/PR Industry is super fickle high-maintenance – so if you burn one bridge, you’ll never be able to re-connect with that agency.
(I should know….there is one Sydney Agency in particular who won’t loan to me from a simple mistake I made early on in the relationship!)
Since you know how much I heart teaching, I’ve created a super fab Google Hangout that we can all jump on live next Thursday 23rd at 8.30am and 1pm Sydney AEDT, where I’ll answer all of these Q’s and MORE!
Plus there’ll be time at the end for general chit chat slash live Q&A where I can answer pretty much answer any Styling Q you have!
If you think you might wanna get involved, CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP, it will be lovely to hang in person, and super productive too!
Here’s a sneak peek of what’s included:
P.S. HOT TIP: THIS IS BRAND SPANKING NEW TRAINING, I’VE NEVER TAUGHT IT BEFORE, SO EVEN IF WE’VE HUNGOUT IN THE PAST, YOU’LL DEF WANNA JOIN IN AGAIN!
